Gdansk on a Weekend — A 48-Hour Plan (No Running Required)

Mint Apartments · · 8 min read

Detailed 2-day Gdansk itinerary with hourly plans, two options for day two, budget tips, and where to stay in Poland for a seamless trip.

Frequently asked questions

Is 48 hours enough to see Gdansk, Poland?
That's enough for a solid core: Main Town, the Motława river, and Granary Island, plus one day at the beach or the Gdańsk Shipyard with ECS. You won't see everything—Westerplatte, Oliwa, and Sopot will have to wait for your next trip. This plan assumes you'd rather spend quality time in a few places than rush through twenty.
How much does a weekend in Gdansk cost for two people?
Accommodation in an apartment costs a few dozen złoty per day, plus public transport tickets (ZTM) for each person (or a time-based ticket if you're traveling extensively), museum entry fees ranging from十几 to several dozen złoty per attraction, and food—like in any major tourist city—from budget street food to restaurants with views of the Motława river. You save the most by staying in a place with a kitchen and skipping some paid attractions in favor of free walks.
Is it better to explore Gdansk on foot or by public transport?
Main Town and Granary Island are definitely walkable—just a few minutes’ stroll between the main sights, and taking the tram would only complicate the route. For Brzeźno or the Gdańsk Shipyard, it’s worth hopping on the tram, and for Sopot, take the SKM—it’s just fifteen to twenty-five minutes and saves your legs for the rest of the day.
Where should I stay to make this itinerary logistically sensible?
Most convenient in the city center, close to the Main Town — then you can spend day 1 entirely on foot. If you choose a beach-oriented option for day 2, a base in Letnica near Seaside is also sensible, as it’s just minutes from Brzeźno. We also offer apartments at DOKI if your priority is evening access to the Stoczni Cesarskiej and its food hall without needing separate travel there.
