Stogi Beach in Gdansk – How to Get There, Parking & Why It’s Not Brzeźno

Stogi is a beach that tourists ask about less often than Brzeźno — but it’s a shame, because for some guests it’s the better choice. Fewer crowds, more sand, and a pine forest instead of a promenade lined with cafes. There’s one but: access right now looks different than it did just a year ago, due to the closure of the Siennicki Bridge. Below is everything you need to know before heading there.

Why Stogi is a Different Beach Than Brzeźno

Brzeźno and Stogi are separated by a few kilometers of coastline and have completely different characters. Brzeźno features a renovated pier, a dense promenade with restaurants and cafes right next to the sand, and the shortest access of all Gdańsk beaches—we covered it in detail in our guide to Brzeźno. Stogi lies on the other side of the port, on an island separated by the Martwa Wisła (Dead Vistula), and has a completely different rhythm: wider, less developed stretches of sand, a pine forest inland instead of a row of eateries, and noticeably fewer crowds even on a busy August weekend.

This isn’t a “worse” beach—it’s a beach for a different scenario. If you’re looking for a spot where you can spread out your towel away from neighbors and take a long walk along the shore without bumping into crowds, Stogi beats Brzeźno. If your priority is stepping off the tram directly onto the sand and having ice cream just two steps away—stick with Brzeźno. How to Get to Stogi

Here’s the most important thing to remember from this article: the Siennicki Bridge has been closed since January 2025 and will remain so until the planned completion of reconstruction in mid-2027, which directly affects access to Stogi and neighboring Przeróbka.

In practice, this means no tram reaches Stogi at all right now — lines 8 and 9 don’t serve that direction. The only practical option is the free replacement bus T8, which runs directly from the Main Railway Station (Dworzec Główny) across the Jan Paweł II cable-stayed bridge to the Stogi Plaża terminus — no transfer needed, roughly every 10–20 minutes. However, the network and frequency of these replacement lines change as reconstruction progresses, so confirm the current schedule just before your trip. In this area, seasonal additional connections are also sometimes introduced — a pedestrian-cyclist ferry crossing and local bus routes linking Przeróbka, Stogi, and Górki Zachodnie — but check their availability on ztm.gda.pl, as they depend on the season and construction phase.

You can reach Stogi by bike along the tram route paths or via the cable-stayed bridge alongside car and bus traffic — this is a longer route than the former direct path across Siennicki, so allow extra time.

All of this may change during reconstruction — schedules for replacement public transport are updated regularly as work progresses. Before traveling, check the current line and stop configuration at ztm.gda.pl or in the Jakdojade app — these are the only reliable sources to trust over a one-time internet post, since traffic conditions in this area change weekly.

Parking on Stogach

Near the main entrances to the beach (the entrance numbers run along the entire stretch, with the main entrance located around Wydmy Street), you’ll find parking areas, some of which are paid. On warm days during the season, especially weekends, spaces fill up quickly—if driving, it’s best to arrive before noon. Since access by car currently goes via the cable-stayed bridge (the same detour used by residents of Przeróbka), expect heavier traffic than usual on this stretch during rush hours and weekends. For many guests this season, it’s simply more convenient to leave the car and use the free shuttle service, which is now running more frequently than the standard tram line.

What You’ll Find On Site: Dunes, Forest, Lake

The beach at Stogi stretches along a wide, sandy expanse—noticeably more spacious than in Brzeźno or Jelitkowo. From the land side, it’s protected by a belt of dunes, beyond which begins a pine forest—an element of the historic landscape design from its days as a health resort—with marked walking trails. A short distance into the woods, toward Nowotnej and Stryjewskiego streets, lies Pusty Staw—a small lake surrounded by greenery, perfect for a walk if you’re looking for more than just sunbathing on the sand. In recent years, the city has also upgraded the trails around it as part of the participatory budget initiative.

It’s worth noting that the local development plan includes future construction of a wooden pier at the main entrance to the beach and a promenade with benches and lighting—though this is currently just a plan without an implementation date, not something you’ll find on site today. If a pier is important to you, Brzeźno still wins—the pier there already exists and has been renovated.

The beach extends so far that even during peak season, it’s easy to find your own patch of sand dozens of meters from the main entrances—just walk a bit further along the shore toward the less frequented numbered entries.

Who Should Choose Stogi

Stogi is a good choice if: you’re traveling with a dog and want a dedicated pet-friendly beach area; you’re looking for a place to take a longer stroll along the shore without constantly passing crowds; you value peace and quiet more than proximity to bars and attractions; or you have plenty of time to travel there and don’t plan on just popping in for an hour between other activities. Families with young children will also find it manageable—beach is gentle and wide—but if short travel times and nearby infrastructure are top priorities, Brzeźno or Jelitkowo usually offer greater convenience.

The best time to visit is during weekdays outside peak season—June or September offer nearly the same weather as July and August, while the beach often remains almost empty even on sunny afternoons. If you enjoy long, aimless walks along the coast toward Górkach Zachodnich, there’s a section of the Coastal Fortifications Trail that leads from the beach to remnants of old fortifications and forest—a great route for a multi-hour adventure beyond just relaxing on the sand.

Where to eat nearby

The food scene at Stogi is more modest than in Brzeźno—there’s no dense promenade lined with restaurants. In season, seasonal food stalls operate near the main beach entrances: kiosks selling fried fish, ice cream, cold drinks, and snacks—a typical beach setup, but fewer options compared to more touristy beaches. If you’re planning a longer day at the beach, it’s wise to bring your own water and some food rather than relying on finding a specific place—options are seasonal and change from year to year, so we don’t recommend any particular spot by name.

Accommodation near the eastern beaches

Stogi, Przeróbka and Letnica lie in the same coastal corridor of Gdansk, though on opposite sides of the port.
