Workation in Gdansk — how to work remotely without missing the city

It’s a planned remote work mode from a different location — one that makes both work and the stay meaningful. Gdansk fits this model well, if you know how to organize it. Here’s what we’ve learned after several years hosting remote workers.

Why Gdansk (Not Warsaw / Kraków / Wrocław)

Three reasons we hear from returning guests:

1. City-to-price ratio. Gdansk offers a quality of life similar to the Tricity premium area at prices lower than Kraków or Wrocław. An apartment with a kitchen and fast internet costs less here than a business hotel in those cities.

2. No crowds for 9 months. Outside of July and August, Gdansk isn’t crowded. You can work in a café without fighting for a seat, enter museums without queues, and walk along the Motława river without dodging tourist groups.

3. The Motława and Baltic Sea work differently than the Vistula. An evening stroll along the waterfront or a 40-minute tram ride takes you to the beach. That reset after work is hard to overestimate after several weeks with a view of a block in Warsaw.

Cafes for Working in Gdansk

Not every cafe is suitable for work. Here’s a list of places where you can open your laptop without worrying about someone waiting for your table:

DOKI Complex and Surroundings:

• Cafes in Montownia and near the entrances to DOKI buildings — available from early morning, good Wi-Fi, louder in the evenings
• Caffessimo (shop + bar) — for those who want great coffee and peace

City Center / Wrzeszcz:

• Wrzeszcz (neighborhood near SKM) has several good cafes with workspaces. 15 minutes by tram from the center, less touristy, more local.
• Areas around Targ Węglowy — a few cafes with free seating and good coffee

Rule: In tourist-heavy Gdansk during summer (July–August), it’s hard to find a quiet spot in the city center. Wrzeszcz and DOKI are better work bases than areas near Long Market.

Co-working — if you need an office

In Gdańsk, you’ll find:

• Starter Gdańsk (Politechnika / Wrzeszcz) — official incubator, hot-desking available
• Actio Co-working — intimate, in the city center
• Office spaces at DOKI complex — some buildings offer daily rentals

Coworking for 1–2 days a week, with the rest spent at your apartment — this is a model that works well.

The Workation Rhythm

What works for remote workers among our guests:

Morning (7:00–9:00): Coffee from the machine in your apartment, breakfast in peace. No need to waste 45 minutes commuting to a hotel buffet or waiting in line.

Work (9:00–15:00): From your apartment or a café. Lunch break: 20-30 minutes, since the kitchen is at hand or you’re near Montowni.

After 15:00: This is the part. A walk along the Motława river, a tram ride to the beach, visiting ECS or MIIWŚ (museums open until 17–18:00), or cycling with Mevo through the city center. Dinner at Montowni by 19:00. Back to your apartment by 21:00—work again tomorrow.

This rhythm is impossible from a hotel room of just 18 m²—you need a living room and kitchen.

Prices — longer stay

For stays 7+ nights, we offer a discount. Contact us before booking via
WhatsApp or contact page — provide your dates and number of guests, and we’ll reply with an offer.

For stays 14+ nights, the discount is even greater. Monthly workations are also possible.

For example, a weekly stay in a one-bedroom apartment near DOKI:

• With discounted weekly rate: approx. 150–200 zł per night effectively
• Compared to a 3* hotel with workspace in the same location (which doesn’t exist here):
  comparison is impossible, as the hotel lacks a kitchen, living room, and 400 Mb/s Wi-Fi

Practical Details

Check-in/out for longer stays:
We can arrange flexible times—just let us know in advance.

Cleaning during the stay:
Standard cleaning is done upon departure. For weekly and longer stays, we can arrange mid-stay cleaning (small fee applies).

Laundry:
All apartments have a washing machine. This is essential for longer stays.

VAT Invoices:
We issue VAT invoices. Please let us know before booking—we’ll provide the necessary details.

Gdansk for workation vs. other Polish cities

Gdansk wins with a unique combination: access to the sea at reasonable prices and a strong cultural scene. It doesn’t have the central vibe of Kraków, but you get the Baltic Sea and Motława river—and that makes all the difference.
